An outstanding example of Old Believer architecture in Bukovina, built between 1900 and 1908 based on the design of Austrian architect V. Klik, funded by moscow merchants Gleb and Olga Ovsyannikov. The five-domed church, featuring brick decoration and expertly chosen glazed colors, has a cruciform plan with three naves and three apses. The wooden carved iconostasis and icons were brought from moscow, while the metal details are cast or forged. The Assumption Cathedral is considered a sanctuary of global significance and hosted two World Councils of the russian Orthodox Old-Rite Church (1996 and 2006). The monument has been under state protection since 1978 and belongs to the Bilokrynytsia Monastery.
