Digitizing Evidence of War Crimes in the Izium District

Project Goals:

  • To digitally document and preserve evidence of Russia's war crimes against Ukraine.

  • To ensure access to this evidence for historians, archaeologists, human rights activists, and the international community.

Key Project Stages:

  • Digitize the mass graves in a pine forest near Izium, where 449 bodies were found (mostly civilians, including children).

  • Create digital models of the police station in Izium, where Ukrainian soldiers and civilians were tortured.

  • Document the destroyed village of Kamianka using drones and photogrammetry due to the area being mined.

  • Process the collected data and post the results on the Sketchfab platform for free access.

  • Ensure the materials are used by war crimes investigators and serve to preserve historical memory.
