Chornobyl NPP Objects: A Story You Can 'See' with Your Hands

Project Goals:

  • To create an innovative exhibition for the National Museum "Chornobyl" that allows visitors, including people with visual impairments, to experience and understand the history of the Chornobyl disaster through tactile and digital technologies.

Key Project Stages:

  • Create four 3D models representing the state of the Chornobyl NPP during different periods: before the accident, on the day of the disaster (April 26, 1986), the "Shelter" object, and the modern "New Safe Confinement."

  • Perform high-detail photogrammetric reconstruction of the station's objects.

  • 3D print detailed copies of each of the four states of the Chornobyl NPP.

  • Process the printed models and prepare the layouts for the exhibition.

  • Equip each 3D model with Braille to ensure accessibility for people with visual impairments.

  • Add QR codes for viewing details through augmented reality (AR).

  • Create an AR filter for one of the models.

  • Develop and print a set of postcards with AR filters.
